It has been more than a year since I decided to leave the “comfortable” life in a company that provided me with a stable paycheck every month. Many great things happened since then. I found my old passion, learned a lot, and got to know amazing people.
My name is Jirka and welcome to follow my dream journey, which I embarked on in July 2019. Whether you are my friend, a stranger, or someone from my family, I decided to share my newest adventure and path towards my dreams. If you have not read about my first month, I would highly encourage you to look at it first, so you know what I write about:)
I did not stay in Vienna for even a month, as I finally visited my whole family. The beginning of this month was a bit stressful, as our dog Eddie had some medical issues. Fortunately, everything went well and I could visit 4 countries this month. Despite traveling, I was pretty effective and cannot complain about the amount of work I have done. Furthermore, I did not feel like in July, where I basically had to start from scratch. All in all, this was a pretty good month.
My goals and progress
This month I have not organized a single BiggestDreamers event, as I was mostly in smaller towns together with my family. Not having enough space and a stable room also did not allow me to record any new podcast episodes. However, I am still continuing with this project and keep sharing my vision with strangers. Furthermore, I bought a new microphone, which I am definitely going to use for my future episodes.
As usual, I was working a lot on my videos and films. I started to edit my new train video, which I filmed already back in February in Portugal. I was not able to finish it, but I could learn some new techniques for editing this video. Furthermore, my sister asked me to make a music video for her boyfriend, which turned out to be quite great and I am glad that we did this together.
Besides this, I was thinking and writing some new scripts and trying to network online with other people online, which would be interested in film.
I also did not forget about my education and took 2 online courses which focused on color grading and how to use my GH5 camera, which I am still not able to use properly.
Lastly, I worked as usually on some smaller videos for my friends.
I have to say that I made some smaller steps in the right direction, at least I feel like that.
I also hoped to join some kino cabarets again, however, due to the worsening pandemic situation, I guess that I will have to forget about it.
If the last month was really expensive, this one was really cheap, as I did not have any expenses thanks to my family, who mostly took care of me during this month. With the exception of my travel budget, I was able to keep all my finances in the black numbers.
Surprisingly, I found 200€, which I had hidden in my backpack for the past 2 years. I completely forgot about it. I will not lie that this improved my budget for this month by a lot.
I also continued to teach and got three new lovely students.
Here is an overview of my income and expenses.
This was my income:
Found lost money 200 €
Teaching 350 €
Parents: 250 €
Total 750 €
These were my expenses:
Food: 148 €
Transportation: 134 €
Rent: 303 €
Others: 91 €
Total 676 €
In the end I was actually able to safe some money, which made me quite happy. I wish I could live like this forever, however, I have higher goals and for that I would need to become more stable with my finances.
My biggest success
My biggest success was to be able to work on my projects even though I was constantly on the move. Furthermore, I would say that I was pretty successful in online networking with other people, who gave me also some nice advice about the film. It was a beautiful month and I could not have imagined spending it better.
My biggest failure
I cannot really think about any failure this month and this is fine. Of course, I can always say, that I could have worked more, but that would not be fair to say.
The month did not start well, mainly due to some problems in our family. However, slowly it picked up and I was happy that I could enjoy every day with my family in the places I love. After 8 months, I could go and visit my grandparents in Slovakia and also a very good friend of mine in Germany. This month, it felt like before. However, the future remains dark and I am also afraid, that there is going to be a second lockdown, keeping us all apart.
Traveling, getting to know new people, and meeting old friends was what made this month awesome. The summer is over and I have to get ready for autumn. Colder weather and shorter days are great to get a lot of work done, at the same time the mood is often down. This time, there will not be any escape to warmer places.
